This position will provide leadership, strategic planning and financial management for all marketing and communications related to graduate program recruitment and outreach. This includes the ability to develop, manage and analyze robust digital marketing strategies and tactics to drive engagement throughout the graduate admissions cycle, to meet the varying enrollment needs of distinct graduate programs campus wide. This includes lead generation, inquiry management, and applicant communications through to enrollment.
This position oversees the development and implementation of prospective student communications plans and is responsible for maintaining the website, implementing electronic campaigns and supporting individual departments with direction. The Associate Director will perform strategic market research to identify potential markets and develop, implement and assess integrated communications plans to prospective students under the leadership of the Director of Graduate Admissions.
Strategic Planning & Leadership:
Collaborate with University Communications to develop digital marketing strategy (website, organic & paid search, social media, email marketing) to drive prospective student inquiries thereby increasing graduate program applications and enrollment campus wide.
Enhance the Portland State brand through the oversight and management of the graduate admissions family of websites and integration of program specific campaigns into online marketing channels.
Implement a strategic communications plan to support student schools/colleges recruitment and enrollment goals across campus.
Develop project management system to oversee and ensure results for all marketing and outreach efforts in assisting departments with developing communications campaigns for individual graduate programs to reach program specific recruitment goals.
Develop working relationships with departments across campus.
Supervise 3 student employees.
Develop and maintain university-wide communications protocol for graduate admissions.
Develop creative briefs for communications campaigns for online and print initiatives as well as e-marketing campaigns.
Coordinate the development and implementation of search engine optimized content (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), marketing database, email communications, social media and display advertising campaigns.
Manage PSU graduate admissions website content.
Collaborate with program directors to create program specific landing pages to optimize user experience and ensure program information and links are current on the application and university webpages.
Measure and report performance of digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
Track Google analytics and periodically review site architecture.
Manage online reputation (Google listings, college search sites, Wikipedia, and other external content).
Attend recruitment events for prospective students at regional graduate fairs.
Develop e-communications for prospective students and applicants to graduate programs.
Provide art, design and content direction for schools/colleges for graduate program recruitment.
Conduct training for staff across campus on marketing and recruitment messages while collaborating with departments to develop response campaigns for prospective students to specific programs.
BA/BS with 3+ years of related experience or Master's with 1+ year of related experience.
Demonstrated understanding and professional experience developing messaging for multi-platform communication (ie. print, web, social media, etc.)
Significant copywriting experience for multiple platforms.
Experience maintaining websites.
Must set priorities and work effectively under pressure in a deadline-driven environment with competing priorities.
Must have outstanding organizational, analytical, problem-solving and detail-oriented skills.
Must be high energy and flexible to coordinate multiple assignments.
Must interact with a wide range of individuals within the unit, across the university and the public.
Must have an eye for creativity.
Must possess strong understanding of web technologies and strong systems application skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Adobe Design Suites, simple HTML, Drupal, Emma, Banner).
Successful completion of a background check.
At least two years of experience in marketing for higher education, particularly for admissions, financial aid or housing/residential life.
A strong understanding of Talisma and CollegeNet's ApplyWeb, Admit, Prospect and Admin systems and integration.
Experience working with third party vendors to enhance marketing efforts.
