The Email Marketing Manager is a key member of a high-performing marketing department whose mission is to keep Boston College alumni, parents, and friends engaged and participating with the university. This position reports to the Senior Associate Director, Digital Marketing, and collaborates closely with client-side account managers, to deliver engaging digital content to key constituents utilizing email, web pages, mobile technology, and social media.
As the manager of University Advancement's broadcast emails, this position is tasked with designing, building, and sending a large volume of emails on behalf of our clients. This person will be tasked with assuring the quality of the content, as well as the functionality across different platforms. This person will also be tasked managing the policies and process that guide the broadcast of marketing emails, as well as maintaining the master calendar. Aside from making sure this process runs smoothly, the E-Mail Marketing Manager will be the resident email marketing expert charged with making recommendations and guiding strategy with the goal of increasing effectiveness and performance.
Building upon this person's success managing broadcast emails, this person will also be asked to build and maintain website and social media content with the goal of increasing engagement and driving participation among our various constituents. This person will also be asked to help the department leverage the full range of digital channels, including our website, blogs, social channels, mobile, in order to reduce the volume of emails currently being sent.
Design, build, and send outbound broadcast emails on behalf of the University Advancement Division to Boston College alumni, parents, and friends;
Manage Advancement Marketing and Communications' quality testing process for broadcast emails; and assume responsibility for assuring that all broadcast emails are free of error, work across all platforms, and adhere to current SPAM filter standards
Manage and enforce the divisions' broadcast email policy and calendar; proactively collect content, data, and scheduling details from clients and stakeholders
Develop and manage the department's process for testing broadcast emails in order increase effectiveness and raise key performance indicators (open rates, click-thrus, etc.)
Leverage the divisions' website and social media channels into order to transition digital content from static emails to dynamic and interactive digital media.
Plan and produce digital content for the Alumni and Parents' website and online community
Serve the a point-of-contact and assist clients in using IModule's online community web tools
Measure and report performance of broadcast emails and digital content for the department, and make recommendations to the team based on these measurements
Develop an expertise of digital marketing industry trends and best practices, and make recommendations to the rest of the team based on this expertise
Collaborate with the department's social media manager in order to align broadcast email and web content with social media content; contribute content, design, and ideas in order to strengthen our social media presence
Develop and execute strategies for optimizing web content for search
Contribute blog posts, photos, videos, slideshows, presentations, forms, surveys and other digital content as assigned
Make recommendations on web-related tools and technologies adopted by the University to determine if and how they can best be leveraged;
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $55,600 to $69,500; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
A bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in building emails, web pages, e- newsletters, online forms, mobile and social media content, and other features.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Adobe web tools (Photoshop and Dreamweaver), and experience working within a content management system.
A firm grasp of email marketing, digital content, mobile marketing, and social media strategy.
Experience testing emails and web content for both performance and functionality across all platforms.
Familiarity with email metrics and reporting, as well as with Google Analytics.
Solid writing skills with ability to design web graphics, optimize photos, and troubleshoot html, css, and browser display issues.
Experience managing a blog or other online publication featuring editorial content is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal communications skills
