The Sports Information Director (SID) is responsible for leadership of the department's communication functions which include but is not limited to branding, messaging, media, marketing and public relations.
*Coordinate the development and implementation of a proactive media outreach program to print, radio, TV and other electronic media outlets. *Prepare media releases for local newspapers and radio stations; primary, secondary and extended newspapers (metropolitan, dailies, weeklies), radio stations, wire services, blogs and TV stations; hometown news media of student athletes; hometown news media of athletic staff and sports guests of the University; and state, national and international magazines. *Work proactively with media to encourage coverage of college athletics events and news. *Serve as a public relations coordinator for the department in developing positive relationships with media representatives from various media outlets. *Oversee the production of high quality media guides, publications and other game-day materials for all sports. *Oversee the management of the press box and/or designated media area for sporting events. *Oversee the management of capturing statistical data and live stats for all sport programs. *Respond to media requests for interviews or information. *Ensure workers are hired and assigned to cover various game management functions required for each sporting event such as public address announcer, music, scoreboard, live streaming, live stats, social media and other functions. *Responsible for the management of the athletics website and mobile application (if applicable). *Manage social media and other digital platforms for the department. *Responsible for the development, management and strategy of dissemination of video content. *Oversee unit budget, including planning, execution and evaluating to ensure fiscal integrity of the department and balances annually. *Coordinate special athletic events and other events assigned by the Director of Athletics. *Supervise Sports Information staff, to include hiring assistants, work study students and interns; training the staff, and delegating various duties. *Supply athletics information for university publications. *Ensure compliance with all NCAA, University, University System of Georgia and conference rules and regulations in all areas of responsibilities (particularly in dealings with National Letter of Intent signings). *Develop and disseminate web, social media and other data analytic reports. *Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics *Other Duties: Please note the job description is not designated to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Minimum Requirements -Bachelor's degree -Three (3) years of experience -Strong writing ability and communication skills -Experience with Website management -Experience in Social Media platform management -Experience with publication development
