The Haas School of Business develops path bending leaders - individuals who redefine how we do business. The Associate Director of Marketing and Analysis owns and manages the Direct Response Marketing program in Development and Alumni Relations at the Haas School of Business. She/he sets the strategic direction and oversees all direct marketing initiatives with the purpose of raising annual support for the Haas School of Business. She/he designs campaigns and initiatives to reach new audiences and markets. She/he creates high-quality and professional marketing materials for the fundraising and campaign efforts. This position requires a skilled marketer with strong writing skills who can bring an innovative and creative approach to all marketing efforts. She/he will have advanced experience in developing a compelling case for support. An ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in fundraising and alumni communications and will possess analytical capabilities to conduct market research and analysis to enhance programs. She/he will measure results each year and initiate new marketing campaigns and initiatives to drive fundraising growth for the school. She/he will serve as a subject matter expert on fundraising communications for Development and Alumni Relations and will partner with members of the team on strategic projects requiring a compelling written case for support and direct marketing.
Manages a Direct Response Marketing program with the purpose of raising annual support for the Haas School of Business, including short and long-range strategic planning.
Manages the overall strategic communications for fundraising programs at the Haas School of Business, including segmentation strategy, message strategy, and the use of direct mail, email, telemarketing, and social and digital media.
Develops a multi-channel approach to marketing efforts.
Designs and develops new campaigns and initiatives to reach various audiences and increase fundraising results.
Develops promotional ads for the Berkeley Haas magazine highlighting annual giving and planned giving.
Develops the creative approach for marketing materials and appeals.
Conducts interviews with alumni, faculty, senior leadership, staff and students and develops content for annual appeals, stewardship publications and campaign materials.
Creates compelling graphs and charts demonstrating the importance of philanthropy.
Develops case for support materials and brochures that highlight the importance of giving to Haas.
Sets the strategic direction and develops content for the Haas Giving website.
Develops and effectively utilizes a system of metrics to test the effectiveness of marketing communications. Works with database managers to create sophisticated and comprehensive analytical reports.
Continuously improves and enhances marketing programs to increase response and revenue.
Conducts A/B tests to refine fundraising strategies.
Sets the design direction for publications in accordance with the school's branding guidelines and selects and commissions visually compelling photos and images.
Collaborates with Haas and University Development and Alumni Relations staff to execute marketing, communications, and telemarketing programs to raise increased levels of annual support.
Reviews, selects, contracts and effectively manages outside vendors for design, photography, content, art, printing and distribution. Ensures all materials are executed on time, budget and brand.
Researches and recommends new and innovative methods for generating revenue.
Conducts benchmarking and best practices studies among peer institutions.
Advanced knowledge of the campus' product lines and services.
Advanced knowledge of the campus, including its achievements, mission, goals, vision, objectives and infrastructure.
Advanced knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, techniques and applications relevant to the field of promotion and advertising.
Advanced skills in developing, designing and implementing creative promotional and advertising strategies.
Advanced written, visual, interpersonal communication and political acumen skills.
Advanced experience developing a case for support, and writing, editing and generating content for marketing materials and appeals.
Advanced analytical and research skills.

Skill in mentoring less experienced staff.
Demonstrated success in producing effective print and electronic appeals, publications and other promotional devices for fundraising.

Experience in working with outside vendors, including writers and editors, designers, photographers and illustrators, advertising agencies, and printers.

Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
