Lincoln Memorial University - a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference, is currently seeking candidates for a full-time Graduate Assistant for Athletic Marketing & Event Management position. The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Marketing & Event Management is responsible for creating and executing marketing plans for the athletic department, along with coordinating all events tied to the department and its programs.
Job Duties: *Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large; *Assist with game management protocols, procedures, and set up for all home events; * Learn the requirements needed to successfully operate all music, statistics, scoreboard, and public address duties at all athletic events; *Work to create positive publicity for the academic achievements and community service initiatives of the Athletics Department; *Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with local, regional and media covering the Athletic department; *Work collaboratively with University Public Relations and Marketing staff on various projects and initiatives; *Develop promotional techniques and ideas for all home events; *Develop marketing strategies for increasing ticket sales for all men’s and women’s programs; *Work with the Director of Athletic Development on all marketing and promotional strategies tied to the L Club golf outing and other fundraising initiatives within the department; *Assist with the direction and growth of the official student fan club of LMU, Abe’s Army; *Coordinate and organize all community service events tied to the Athletic department; *Assist with coordination of the Athletics Marketing internship program; *Complete 15 hours per week in the LMU business school; *Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong written and oral communication skills; Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products; Strong interpersonal skills are required; Ability to lift and move necessary equipment for set up and tear down facilities; Evening and weekend work with occasional travel is required.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Sport Management, Marketing, Communications or other related field; Must be highly organized and able to work independently on major projects; Successful admission into a graduate program of Lincoln Memorial University; Relocation to Harrogate, Tennessee campus; Maintenance of satisfactory progress towards a graduate degree; Letter of assignment as a graduate assistant signed by the President of Lincoln Memorial University.
Preferred Experience: Previous athletics experience as a student worker, or an intern, preferably in marketing, fundraising or event management, and previous experience with personnel management. Previous experience with Photoshop and InDesign is also preferred.
