University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs Athletics Marketing & Events Post Graduate Internship Openings (2)
The University of Minnesota Duluth Intercollegiate Athletics program has two post-graduate internship positions available beginning on or about July 1, 2019. Home to nine national championship teams since 2000, the University of Minnesota Duluth has been sponsoring intercollegiate athletics for the past 88 years and continues to reign as one of the most well-balanced and competitive programs in the Upper Midwest. UMD is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and belongs to the 14-school Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in all sports (NCAA Division II), in addition the men's and women's ice hockey participate in NCAA Division I and are aligned with the NCHC and WCHA respectively.
Marketing & Event Management: You will be supervised by the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Corporate Relations who will mentor this internship and receive hands on learning experiences with: 1.Strategic marketing and promotional planning for sports programs. Full responsibility for select sports. 2.Collaborating with affiliated groups including boosters, alumni, student groups and other University contacts to help generate awareness and attendance for assigned sports. 3.Creating great fan experiences though promotions, social networking, music, mascots, and other performance groups that reinforce University of Minnesota Duluth’s collegiate brand. 4.Marketing activities on game days, special event planning and sponsorship sales. 5.Researching and implementing revenue generation opportunities 6.Operations/Event management. 7.Office duties and responsibilities.
You will have an initial period of observation, followed by supervision and daily reviews on needed basis.
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management/Administration, Marketing, Business or similar
Preferred qualifications: Knowledge of or experience in sports marketing, event marketing, social media and/or in-game promotions, and revenue generation. Previous internship experience. Strong proficiency with creating finished graphics for print, video and web.

Fourteen of the Bulldogs' 16 teams — baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, football, women’s soccer, softball, women’s tennis, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, and volleyball — are members of the 16-school NCAA Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey programs, meanwhile, are aligned with the eight-team National Collegiate Hockey Conference (which debuted in 2013-14) and the eight-school Western Collegiate Hockey Association, respectively.
