Position Summary: Salem College, a liberal arts college for Women in Winston - Salem, NC, announces an opening for the Director of Sports Communications and Marketing. The Director is responsible for the management and supervision of the Sports Information Office. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating all public relations and publicity for all sports, preparing, producing and distributing publications for all sports, overseeing all communication for and between coaches, students and College offices, and compiling appropriate statistics for individual athletes and team performances.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that reports to the Director of Athletics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Directs and produces all sports information materials to the media
Adheres to Salem College and Athletic Department policies for the Sports Information Department
Oversees press row/press box management for home athletic events, including student workers and part-time employees, and serving as host for visiting media
Assists with marketing and promotions of athletic events through school-sponsored social media and other appropriate mediums
Manages the budget and assists with advertising for publications
Coordinates and manages all aspects of athletic portion of the Salem College website
Provides oversight of online streaming of contests and the score table
Coordinates the working relationship between the coaching staff, student-athletes, and the Media
Produces and edits brochures, posters, and programs as needed
Coordinates communications and serves as a liaison between the Sports Information Office and the Public Relations Office of Salem College
Manages and maintains compliance with NCAA Division III and USA South rules and regulations as it pertains to the area of Sports Information
Bachelor's Degree - (Journalism, Communication, or Master’s Degree preferred)
Three - five years in the field of Sports Information, with extensive experience in writing sports material
Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA Division III and USA South Rules and Regulations
Knowledge of media practices and procedures to include web, radio, and social media
Knowledge of computerized statistical packages and desktop publishing equipment to include Statcrew, Adobe Design Suite, and website content management systems such as SideArm/Presto
Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work evenings and, weekends
Demonstrable time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
The ability to work inside and outside and to perform duties in various weather conditions.
The ability to stand for varying lengths of time and traveling moderate distances to perform work at the athletic event locations.
The ability to bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
