The Director of Marketing & Communications is the in-house creative department for the Association, and is responsible for coordination and strategy, along with Association Leadership, to aid in meeting the business goals for each department. This includes supporting Association events, education, advocacy, products & services, membership recruitment and retention with the creation of marketing and communications items, and the management of the marketing and communications plan. Additionally, the Director manages all publications and outreach functions of the Association.
Coordinates and collaborates with all applicable staff to create and distribute all marketing pieces for all departments, programs, and products. This includes but is not limited to education, membership, special events, advocacy, outreach, etc.
Designs collateral materials (invitations, brochures, flyers, signage, email graphics, animated graphics, etc.) to support communications efforts.
Edits and proofs all collateral and editorial content to ensure quality and consistency of message.
Tracks, measures and reports key performance indicators to determine marketing/communications effectiveness.
Manages the Association publications from concept to delivery with contributors and applicable vendors for both e-newsletters, and Window magazine.
Advertising sales and contract management, billings for Window magazine, website, and e-newsletter publications.
Responsible for email marketing including list management, email development and execution
Maintains the website with up-to-date content to support Association’s programs and products.
Regularly evaluates the website design and functionality; suggests and implements improvements for improved user experience.
Coordinates and manages professional photographers and videographers.
Create video content and graphics to support digital communications efforts
Creates or curates content and manages the social media schedule for Association accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Serves as staff liaison to the following:
Community Services Committee (includes Food Drive)
Responsible for all marketing, promotion, committee coordination for all community services activities. Responsible for creating/following annual budget in conjunction with community service activities.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned and as may be necessary to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Association (assisting with all fundraisers/meetings of the Association).
Experience & Skills Required and Preferred
Bachelor’s degree/equivalent experience in graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.
A minimum of 5-7 years of work experience (marketing, design, public relations or communications).
Experience working with professional/trade associations/nonprofits is preferred.
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Acrobat Pro.
Thorough knowledge of social media tools and content management systems including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Instagram, and WordPress.
Excellent writing skills: writing copy for a variety of forums, extensive knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Creativity a must. Ability to create graphics that are attention-grabbing
Detail-oriented, with strong, effective organizational, problem solving and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Must be a self-starter, flexible and adaptable to change, and work both independently and as a strong team player
Experience with web-based CRM or AMS Software/Management System is preferred
Willingness and availability for calls and meetings outside normal business hours, when needed, due to the volunteer schedules.
