The University of Connecticut is seeking applications for a creative and highly-motivated Director of Marketing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will primarily be responsible for the development, planning and execution of the marketing strategy for select sports that may include football, men’s basketball and other sports as assigned. The marketing strategy will focus on ticket sales and revenue generation, building attendance, maximizing brand market penetration and brand association, and maximizing the fan experience, fan engagement and fan retention. In addition, this position will contribute to the overall management and supervision of the marketing staff and associated responsibilities.
This individual will collaborate extensively with Learfield IMG College (UConn Athletics Multi-Media Rights Holder) on the fulfillment of corporate partner obligations; collaborate extensively with various department units including ticket sales and service, ticket operations, video services, communications and Husky Athletic Fund; act as the liaison to various campus groups including the marching band and spirit squads; be actively engaged in the Division’s digital and social media efforts; and research and data collection activities. This position will perform these duties as well as other related duties under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director/Marketing.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field with at least two years of full time experience in marketing at the collegiate or professional level within the last five years OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated ability to develop successful marketing plans with proven results
Proven ability to generate innovative and creative ideas, plans and strategies in all facets of marketing and promotions (ticket sales campaigns, digital content, in-venue fan experience, brand awareness, etc.)
Comprehensive understanding and proven record of coordinating event activities and collaborating with various internal and external constituents to attain goals
Motivated, creative, innovative individual who can produce results with minimal supervision
Proven ability to effectively manage, supervise and lead a staff
Must be well organized, detail oriented, have ability to handle multiple projects, and demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to thrive in a diverse, fast-paced, student-athlete service-driven environment in a collegiate setting
Must be willing to work athletic events, irregular schedules, evenings and weekends
Five years of Division I collegiate athletic marketing/promotions experience
College experience at an FBS football program
Experience collaborating with a multi-media marketing partner (such as Learfield IMG College)
Experience with digital marketing
Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a full time, 12-month position with excellent benefits.
