Department/College Description
The College of Science has 797 undergraduate students, 244 graduate students and 191 faculty members. It delivers the required scientific and mathematical education for most of the programs offered at RIT. The College of Science houses four of RITs eight Ph.D. programs color science, astrophysical sciences and technology, mathematical modeling and imaging science.
The College of Science offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences, the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, the School of Mathematical Sciences, the School of Physics and Astronomy, and the Integrated Sciences Academy. It also offers many research opportunities and programs and houses a number of research centers and laboratories that are conducting world-renowned research. In addition to its degree programs, the College delivers the required scientific and mathematical underpinnings for most of the programs offered at RIT.
Detailed Job Description
Reporting to the COS Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and to the Associate Vice President for Marketing Strategy and Creative Services, the College of Science (COS) Marketing Director is responsible for:
Lead the planning and execution of marketing programs and existing services from start to finish Conceptualize and execute on multi-channel campaigns across the customer lifecycle, ensuring the alignment of communications and messaging across all traditional and non-traditional channels. Planning, organizing, creating and executing marketing activities and programs to achieve strategic goals set by the College leadership. Consults and collaborates with the COS, the Division of Enrollment Management, and the Division of Marketing and Communications (M&C) to lead the development and implementation of a strategic, comprehensive, and integrated marketing and communication plan that targets key constituents of the College. Manage all aspects of marketing (and communications) for the college by leveraging M&C's marketing intelligence, brand know-how, and other services provided by the Division. Manage the brand integrity within the college by getting everyone to adopt a consistent and compelling message, look, and feel. Build and manage long-term relationships among COS faculty, staff, and alumni; provide consultation; gather requirements; assemble, compare, and recommend marketing communication strategies that meet budgetary and time constraintsall while considering communication objectives, university brand, and strategic goals. Support of programmatic and enrollment growth efforts by planning and deploying publications, advertising, and digital and analog promotion activities and elevating the visibility to external and internal audiences. Effective leader, providing guidance to the Web and Social Media Specialist on content strategy and demonstrate quantifiable success in the digital landscape. Maintain a strong knowledge of competitive academic, research, and outreach programs and their offerings with a goal to increase the effectiveness of the college's outreach. Support programmatic and enrollment growth efforts by planning and deploying publications, advertising, and digital and analog promotion activities and elevating the visibility of the COS academic, research, and outreach programs to external and internal audiences. Manage a marketing budget and prioritize spending as necessary. Use data-driven understanding for planning and executing integrated marketing communication activities. Make strategic recommendations and provide ongoing effectiveness reports to the College and Marketing groups. Handle other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelors Degree in Marketing or related field Experience - A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in marketing and communications required.
- Previous experience in higher education marketing and/or science communication preferred.

- Skilled at organizing projects, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines. Demonstrated success in digital and traditional media.

- Continually stay up-to-date with skills and knowledge relative to the position.
Preferred: Masters Degree/MBA preferred.
