Responsible for the formation and execution of the marketing and public relations plans for Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) and its Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA). Maintain the respective KCAD and UICA brands and missions via integrated and consistent brand identity. Along with the Content Coordinator, serves as the co-leader of KCAD’s marketing and design team and supervises the Graphic Designer and Photographer/Videographer. Reports directly to the KCAD President.
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field.
Required Work Experience:
At least three years of prior professional experience in marketing and public relations.

Experience with content management systems. Print and prepress knowledge and experience. Demonstrated work experience in higher education. ADA and OCR awareness.
Collaborate with the Content Coordinator to develop the marketing and public relations strategy for the college. Collaborate with KCAD Admissions Services team on the marketing strategy. This may include, but is not limited to, direct mail, print, radio, television, web, online announcements, billboards, and social media campaigns. Oversee marketing to include in-house collateral, email, newsletters and announcements, social media, signage, fliers, sponsor decks, and invitations. Act as the media and public relations contact for the college. Cultivate and maintain with local, regional and national reporters (print, radio and television). Responsible for maintenance of overall brand standards as they apply to all of the above. Serve as a member of KCAD’s project teams as assigned. Provide and execute marketing plans for the following UICA areas: film exhibition; art exhibitions and performances; special events and event sponsorships; membership; fund development; general business development including new initiatives, space rentals, and education Provide project management for UICA fundraising events. Work with the Content Coordinator to negotiate contracts with outside vendors. Work with the Content Coordinator to establish and manage budgets.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and professionally adapt to changing priorities. Ability to integrate with a diverse team with varying opinions and ideas and work seamlessly with administration, colleagues, clients and vendors. Excellent judgement and ability to accurately translate client’s marketing needs. Excellent project management skills with ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments under tight deadlines. Well defined knowledge base of the principles of design, typography, illustration, photography, production, marketing, branding, writing and editing. Ability to work as part of a creative team as well as independently and is self-directed in assisting clients with marketing requests. Proficiency in social media management. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office 365 products.
