Park Century School was founded in 1968 as an independent not-for-profit, co- educational day school to meet the needs of children who learn differently. Park Century serves students between the ages of 7 to 14, or grades 2nd to 8th, living in the Southbay to the San Fernando Valley and throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Park Century’s mission is to empower bright children with learning differences to reach their academic and personal potential. Students flourish within our individualized, evidence-based curriculum and supportive environment. In collaboration with their families, the school inspires students to develop into resilient self-advocates and builds a foundation for lifelong achievement.
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will coordinate and facilitate all communications, marketing, and branding initiatives for Park Century. This position offers a creative and meaningful opportunity to develop and execute communication campaigns that promote the benefits of our unique individualized program and mission to the greater community. Through strategic thinking and compelling story-telling skills – including visual, written, graphic, and digital mediums – the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will promote the Park Century educational experience.
He/she works in close collaboration with the Head of School, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Admissions, Director of Development and the Board of Trustees
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Mastery of multimedia and social media communications channels
Knowledge of current practices in writing content for websites, social media, and all other digital and printed communication (Familiarity with Mailchimp, G-Suite, Wix, Canvas (and/or other graphic design platforms)
Fluency in using social media effectively
Knowledge of how to increase exposure through digital marketing, such as, google ads and google search
A self-starter who can work independently and under deadline pressure
A team-player who is driven to learn and continually seek ways to improve professional skills
Outstanding interpersonal skills and collaborative work style: the ability to listen well, understand, support, and connect with students, parents, employees, and trustees
Ability to think creatively and strategically as a thought partner to faculty and staff

Abides by the policies and guidelines contained in the Park Century School Employee Handbook
Develop and implement a coordinated internal communications plan: Work with administration and faculty to draft, edit, send all necessary School correspondence to constituents; Create and maintain communications log of all correspondence. Prepare and distribute general school calendar updates and send Panther Weekly emails
Effectively market the school and its programs to prospective families and key external audiences by telling the school’s story in social media outlets: Develop digital marketing content and strategies to promote Park Century School: Manage the School’s social media accounts and create on-brand social media posts about student life on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages. Implement hashtag social media and branding campaigns for special events, announcements, etc.
Create and maintain updated marketing materials working(such as a one-sheet school profile, bi-annual e-newsletter to go out to constituents, and “look-book” pamphlet) with school information to offer to prospective parents or at conference booths
Write and send press releases and correspondence to elected official offices when needed
Oversee and maintain the Park Century School website: As the primary content director, update and maintain the website (Wix Platform) with vigilance in reviewing materials to ensure a user-friendly, up-to-date, informative, and unique site
Assess the effectiveness of website materials, email marketing campaigns, and social media campaigns through surveys and online tracking
Serve as Crisis Communication manager: Lead the Communications Disaster Recovery team; work with administration to form disaster preparedness and emergency correspondence files and create an effective and clear emergency communications plan.
Update and maintain group contact and email lists, including outside Professional Roster and Board of Trustees Roster
Create and maintain Team Drive for all PCS staff and faculty to share electronic resources, schedules, and employee forms
Other duties as assigned
Diploma(s). Minimum of a B.A. in marketing/communications or related field
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, stairs, lifting desks, chairs and instructional materials up to 50 lbs., operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange
