The IU Center of Excellence for Women & Technology Marketing and Communications Coordinator will report to the Senior Associate Director to strategically develop and coordinate the Center's marketing and communication plans, campaigns, and activities to promote new member onboarding, enhance retention and engagement of affiliates, market programs, share resources, promote advocacy, and raise visibility of the Center.
Independently develops and executes basic and increasingly more complex strategic marketing plans for a department or functional area within a department to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
Responds to inquiries and requests from stakeholders and explains information regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, and acts as a collaborative resource in curating marketing plans to relevant initiatives, groups, events, and programs.
Regularly researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty, including information on various marketing channels (print, online, electronic, email, social media, and direct mail).
May participate in team-based marketing planning to align strategies and deadlines across various concurrent projects and initiatives.
Collaborates with users of various software programs and creative platforms to create and deliver content and marketing materials in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.
May provide guidance to lower-level Marketing Generalists.
Department specific responsibilities:
Works with the Center's leadership teams, including faculty leadership board, Advocates & Allies, student alliance group leaders and more to create and update web content relevant to DE&I.
Oversees the research, creation, and production of new marketing collateral for DE&I.
Researches and writes press releases in collaboration with marketing and communications on a wide range of issues in service of the work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Researches and creates spotlights featuring IU women and alumnae engaged with technology.
Maintains a steady stream of compelling and relevant social media posting, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn.
Researches and writes the DE&I Annual Report for the Center.
Creates targeted campaigns to attract underrepresented students and women to earn the Digital Survival Skills eBadge and participate in beginner level programs.
Works with all program group constituents to engage the Center's community via meaningful and intentional marketing and communication strategies that use inclusive language and terminology, and visual images that represent a balance of diversity and reflect individuals in an authentic manner. This will apply to website, presentations, publications, videography, documents and reports, graphic design, photography, print materials, and all other forms of communication.
Develops messaging for marketing programming initiatives aimed to enhance diversity awareness, promote cultural fluency, and improve responsiveness to equity issues.
Expands communication to IUPUI and possibly system for reach of programming.
Develops and implements Center marketing campaigns designed to promote the Center, recruit and engage affiliates, and market all programs and initiatives.
Monitors, measures, and improves the effectiveness of communication initiatives.
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations, or a related field .
2 years in a relevant field.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Must be able to lift, carry and transport marketing materials when traveling. Requires mental concentration. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
