The Office of Strategic Communications & Marketing delivers and supports strategic and innovative communications and marketing technology across all of OEM to advance student recruitment, service, and success. The department collaborates with campus partners to actively influence strategy, practice, and innovation.
Translates design concepts into code to develop fully-responsive websites and web applications; focuses on front-end, user-facing web development.
Consults with website stakeholders and/or web administrator to review existing websites/webpages; develops new functionality and/or codes front-end web changes.
Creates web tools and functionality that enhance how users see and use websites, taking into consideration multi-browser and mobile compatibility and performance.
Tests websites and web applications, performs quality control/assurance checks, continuous integration and fixes bugs accordingly.
Documents web application and/or web site changes and debugs undesirable and/or unexpected website behavior.
Acts as a liaison between design/creative teams and stakeholders to ensure optimum functionality, performance, accessibility, scalability, and security of websites and web applications.
Ensures that all protocols used in the development and maintenance of websites are up to date and compliant with university policies and standards; researches and stays up-to-date on new industry web standards, emerging media technology, UX/UI design/philosophy, and accessibility standards.
Department Specific Information:
Manages and maintains department websites and web databases.
Builds dynamic web content that meets university branding, security, and accessibility standards.
Builds and maintains interactive web landing pages and forms.
Assists with Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud web integrations.
Utilizes web tools and reporting to improve SEO, accessibility compliance, and quality assurance.
Uses Google Marketing Platform for traffic analysis and tag management.
Assists in developing and documenting web processes, information architecture, and naming conventions.
Bachelor's degree (preferably in Computer Science or a related field).
2 years of front-end web development or related experience.

Ability to integrate advanced protocol interfaces (API).
Familiar with IU's Web Framework, WCMS, and Rivet Design System.
Comfortable working in a traditional LAMP stack.
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
