The Assistant Director of Marketing creates, manages and implements strategic and brand-compliant marketing collateral, advertising campaigns (in concert with the advertising manager), events and related communications for high-profile University departments, offices and schools, including Enrollment Management, the Office of the President and the Law School. This position is responsbile for the strategic development of recruitment marketing communications, and suports the Director of Marketing with brand implementation and consistency for major initiatives.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, implements, and assess marketing communications projects- with a special emphasis on recruitment- from concept to completion, including strategy and content creation, project management, writing, and client interaction.
Works closely with the Office of the President to provide event-related marketing collateral and support, including video production, copy writing, website development and design coordination.
Works with assigned schools, departments, and programs of the University to improve the quality of marketing efforts overall and ensure all marketing communications materials are aligned with integrated campaigns and the Duquesne University brand.
Collaborates with multi-media designers to ensure the look and feel of marketing communication pieces are effective for audience and message.
Oversees multiple projects of varying complexities and manages project resources well, keeping clients, team members and supervisors appraised of project status.
Provides editorial support for the Duquesne University Times and the University’s magazine.
Performs other related job duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing advertising, English, or related field.
A minimum of 8 plus years of experience and record of progressively greater responsibility for multiple marketing initiatives within complex organizations.
Evidence of having developed the necessary skills to supervise marketing professionals and manage processes is preferred.
Evidence of clear understanding and experience in brand identity and brand management, copy-writing (including evidence of effectively writing in a style and tone suited to target audiences), messaging, proofreading and excellent command of grammar and style conventions.
Other related knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position:
Proven ability to work successfully with colleagues and staff from across an organization, knowledge and experience with project management, and experience working with advertising firms and other vendors.
Copy-writing experience, including evidence of effectively writing in a style and tone suited to target audiences, messaging, proofreading and excellent command of grammar.
Knowledge of current marketing and advertising trends and best practices.
Proven ability to develop and implement marketing strategies.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to be detail-oriented and meet demanding timelines.
Ability to effectively work with multiple clients on multiple, simultaneous projects.
Ability to function as both a team leader and team member.
Expert proficiency with necessary software systems.
Master’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising, English, or related field.
