JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position will administer the Department of Surgery's communications plan incorporating the use of UTHSC's Department of Surgery website, departmental newsletter, social media, and other outlets to facilitate communication with current and prospective students/residents/fellows, the Department of Surgery's alumni, donors, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. This position's primary responsibilities are in marketing and communications to promote a positive public image among the department's various audiences. The position is responsible for coordinating organization-wide design, message, and content generation, including electronic and print communications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, create, update and maintain the Department of Surgery's web pages that are clear and engaging as informative, up-to-date and useful in publicizing Surgery's information for current and prospective students, parents, staff, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders.
Work with the Department Chair and others within the department to create and develop information for the departments web pages and ensure the information is timely and relevant.
Develops and manages on a daily basis separate, distinct online communities on social media properties, including LinkedIn followers, Facebook fans, Blog, and Twitter followers. Monitors conversations on multiple platforms to increase follower's engagement.
Manage creations, production, and dissemination of printed publication for education, development, and postcards). administration purposes (such as quarterly newsletter, annual report, course brochures, and exhibition and event.
Collaborates with University faculty and directors for publication development drafts, reviews, provides follow-up with others as needed for articles due within deadline.
Conduct media relations program for selected events and/or activities.
