The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics consists of more than 275 staff members and coaches and sponsors 30 varsity sports programs. These 30 programs include more than 850 student-athletes who participate in the various sports programs annually within the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). We are currently seeking an Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing.

Responsibilities
The Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing position is responsible for the oversight of the Marketing unit, which is tasked with leading the efforts to maximize efforts in the areas of fan development, brand management and revenue generation. The focus is to drive revenue, enhance the gameday experience and to strengthen and grow the fan base. This position supervises operational staff, including students and volunteers, who provide comprehensive marketing, advertising, social media, fan experience, and public event support services.
- Lead the development and execution of digital revenue generation strategies, including, but not limited to digital advertising, e-mail and text, mobile app, website content, and SEO campaigns.
- Foster increased fan engagement/interaction resulting in an enhanced in-game experience.
- Develop new strategies to build and enhance the fan base for football and men's basketball
- Assist with the development of annual goals and metrics as well as processes to gather and analyze feedback to adjust tactics to fit market and fan base
- Ensure that full season marketing plans are developed and they are being executed successfully and smoothly.
- Provide leadership for the Marketing unit, determines unit goals and priorities, establishes vision and objectives, and sets unit assignments and responsibilities. Ensure Marketing unit is following department brand guidelines and the unit is following department strategic plan. Responsible for representing the Marketing unit at departmental meetings.
- Ensures both Department and client needs are met through production of high quality events, and successful Marketing campaigns executed.
- Manage the unit relationship with Learfield, our corporate sponsorship representatives, ensuring we comply with all contracted 'in-game activation' needs, sponsor social media posts and emails.
- Leads short-term and long-range event planning for the entire unit and the assigned sports. Responsible for planning all events for assigned sport team(s), all department post-season championship events, and some special fan events. Consult with coaches/operations staff, Facilities, Events Management, Learfield Ticket Operations, and other Department units on all details regarding events and events planning.
- Build marketing, advertising and promotional plans to promote attendance and atmosphere for events. Responsible for directing in-game promotional activities.
- Provides comprehensive personnel administration including recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating and as required taking corrective action with subordinate supervisors and other relevant positions. Selects, trains, including developing training materials, evaluates, schedules and as required, takes corrective action with staff.
- Manages or oversees all aspects of Marketing unit fiscal responsibilities, including creation of budget and adherence to budget. Various budgets include overall Marketing, Advertising, and Spirit Groups sub-budgets for individual sports, etc.
- As the department's expert with regard to Marketing and Fan Experience, regularly provides guidance to leadership and other departmental units with regard to procedures and protocol.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training/experience.
- 5+ year of experience as a Marketing professional.
- Ability to oversee multiple projects and quickly discern complex and competing interests.
- Outstanding organizational, analytical, problem resolution and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the campus and with external constituencies.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and with quick timeframes to deliver outcomes towards goals and objectives through effective program/project planning, organization, and execution.
- Previous management experience, including leading or directing a unit or department.
- Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Publisher, and Word.
- Graphic design skills, including ability to proficiently use Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience managing a department or unit budget and staying within budget constraints.
- Knowledge of the athletics environment including relevant issues including ticket sales, merchandising, revenue generation, and/or direct appeals within an athletics department and/or higher education or a corporate environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in college or professional sports in the area of marketing, promotions and/or fan experience
- Prior managerial experience of professional staff
- Working knowledge of the institution, its mission, vision, goals, achievements, policies, and infrastructure preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable NCAA and Pac-12 Conference rules and regulations.
Salary & Benefits

Other Information
- This is a career, 100% full-time, 40-hours per week appointment, eligible for full UC benefits.
