Position Overview
The Director of Communications and Marketing is a new position that will oversee and plan communication and marketing strategies that promote ADVIS to current and prospective schools and current and potential underwriters. This position supports the overall mission and work of ADVIS by designing and implementing communications and marketing plans that promote ADVIS’ strategic priorities, programs, and initiatives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications
Serve as the primary content creator, developing, coordinating, and producing content for delivery in multiple channels, including website, email campaigns, social media, video, publications, and promotional print pieces.
Oversee and implement strategy and redesign for the ADVIS website, including possibilities such as blogs and podcasts, content development, and effective marketing strategy.
Source content from inside and outside of the industry that provokes engagement
Attend select association events to collect material for promotion via appropriate channels.
Collaborate with the Director of Professional Learning and Technology to develop compelling narratives and segmented promotional plans to engage constituents in programming.
Write, edit, and proofread communications on behalf of the association.
Develop and manage the messaging calendar of the association.
Develop and reinforce the ADVIS brand and style guidelines.
Track, analyze, and report on all communications, online advertising, and website performance.
Manage the process of collecting user feedback, both external and internal, to review association communications and promotional messaging.
Collaborate with the President to develop budgets and manage expenses for communication platforms and initiatives, including the website, technical services, marketing, and promotional plans.
Create, manage, and implement a strategic communication plan for outreach within the ADVIS network, including:
Promoting ADVIS programs and services to member schools across a variety of channels and platforms
Highlighting member schools’ accomplishments and milestones
Develop and manage a robust media outreach strategy to advance the ADVIS vision and its member schools, including op-eds and press releases
Maintain the ADVIS website as a compelling point of entry for current and prospective members, sponsors, strategic partners, and the public
Other duties as assigned
Marketing
Position the President as the chief advocate for independent schools in the region by securing press interviews, writing speeches, preparing presentations, and leveraging social media.
Oversee and report underwriting progress toward the annual budget.
Assist with vendor/sponsor sales and implementation.
Serve as on-site liaison to exhibitors/sponsors.
Maintain a list of prospective sponsors/exhibitors,
Partner with Membership & Outreach Manager to develop and deliver collaterals that enhance member engagement and inform school representatives about the benefits of ADVIS.
Manage the performance and deliverables of third-party vendors, such as graphic designers, videographers, editors, and audio producers.
Participate in in-person and virtual professional development programs, as requested, to lead media relations, network with member schools, and assist with program implementation.
Qualifications:
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, audio/video editing skills a plus

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising, marketing, graphic design, communications, or related field
1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Association or independent school experience is a plus
Access to a car, a driver’s license, and the ability to travel within the Greater Delaware Valley region.
