The Digital Content Manager provides expertise and leadership in the development of content for digital spaces, primarily the UTC.edu website. As a member of the division's marketing team, this person partners with the web development team, creative team, and communications team to develop optimized website content, to educate web editors, and to lead best practices across campus. This position is also responsible for the set-up, testing, sending and performance measurement of mass email content for large campus audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As an expert in digital content development, this employee serves as a resource and trainer to other campus employees who are designated as editors/contributors of web content. The Digital Content Manager will have an expertise in search engine optimization (SEO) and a strong understanding of Google Analytics in order to analyze web content performance, share reports and train colleagues in the development of web content that improves the performance and experience of the website. This employee will liaison with the creative team in the development of video, photo and multimedia assets for the website.
The Digital Content Manager is a close partner with the web development team, a group of web developers who work with partners across campus on their web presence and web functionality. This employee serves as the university's lead web content expert, understanding and developing content that will optimize pages and enhance the user experience.
This employee will contribute to the university's social media efforts by collaborating on the conceptualization and creation of engaging social media content for the university's primary social accounts.
A portion of this employee's time will be dedicated to the facilitation and management of campus mass emails. Using email systems and listservs, this position works closely with the Director of Communications on the editing, layout, testing, sending, and performance measurement (open rates, click-through rates, etc.) of mass emails that go to audiences including faculty, staff, and students, and will make recommendations on optimal content development.
There may be additional duties as identified by the Senior Director of Marketing.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Excellent written communication skills and expertise in identifying the best medium in which to communicate a message
Excellent communication skills with partners across campus and ability to motivate and educate web content partners
Strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) and writing search engine optimized content
Experience with Google Analytics and interpreting page/content performance reports
Experience in using email systems in order to lay out email content in templates, send emails, and report performance metrics
Experience and skill in HTML 5 and CSS 3
Ability to write and manipulate HTML code in order to create email templates that reflect the university's visual brand
Bachelor's degree in communications, digital marketing, computer information systems, or closely aligned field

Minimum qualifications:Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and two years of professional experience in digital content development and editing, email development and management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred qualifications: Certified in Google Analytics and experience with Drupal and web improvement tools such as SiteImprove are preferred.
