The College of Education and Human Development seeks a Communications and Marketing Strategist to join a dynamic team of professionals to lead CEHD forward across a spectrum of internal/external communication deliverables and implementation of new marketing initiatives, strategies, and tools. This position works closely with the Creative Director and Digital Team in the OCM and reports to the Director/Interim Director of the office. Additionally, this position will work closely with communications and marketing professionals across the college to strategize and help execute both collegiate and unit-specific initiatives. The Strategist will serve as a thought-partner with the OCM team to identify solutions to current and future communications/marketing strategies and needs and will be primarily responsible for implementation of those solutions across the organization and within the University environment. Efforts will be intended to reach and influence all external and internal audiences of the college, including current and potential University and collegiate students/faculty/staff, alumni, donors, state legislators, federal agencies, and others.
Align marketing efforts with collegiate unit and OCM staff efforts in content, creative, and digital strategy, and contribute to all efforts as needed.
Identify current communications/marketing strategies and evaluate their effectiveness.
Identify current gaps and create a plan to address those gaps, identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that lead to effective implementation of solutions and evaluate the effectiveness of all new efforts.
Establish appropriate Call To Actions (CTAs) and conversion goals and metrics for all marketing efforts.
Develop specific communications and marketing campaigns establishing processes to collect/analyze market data and track/report results.
Serve as a thought-partner with office/organizational leadership as new strategies/tools are investigated.
Identify impacts of implementation of new strategies/tools while creating and executing plans of implementation to improve office and unit operations.
Research and forecast marketing trends and changes.
Ensure marketing and communication campaigns align with CEHD branding, strategic vision and priorities of college leadership, and help amplify the voice and mission of the units, college, and the University as a whole.
Communications/Marketing Administrative Point Person (35% time)
Serve as the primary point of contact for all CEHD administrative units.
Lead communications/marketing efforts with all CEHD administrative units, prioritizing work based on larger impact of deliverables.
Coordinate efforts as needed across OCM teams to achieve desired results, leading efforts from conceptualization to ultimate implementation.
Utilize multimedia strategies to achieve desired outcomes, assuring constituents are aware of efforts and understand desired impact and results.
Serve as a thought partner with all collegiate marketing staff to advance unit/collegiate goals with a comprehensive lens on specific efforts, amplifying efforts as deemed appropriate.
Meet with collegiate partners, communicators, and leadership to evaluate marketing and communications needs/objectives.
Lead Communications/Marketing Projects (25% time)
Attend committees/meetings for collegiate projects or events that have communications/marketing needs to be supported by the central office.
Represent the office and create needed plans with timelines to deliver effective solutions based on needs.
Organize office efforts across workgroups or teams and potentially with center/department communicators/marketers, including assigning tasks based on skill sets and assuring delivery of workgroup efforts.
Document processes and workflows while evaluating effectiveness of past efforts to influence and improve future efforts.
Bachelor’s degree and six years experience in related role
Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills
Ability to work and communicate with internal and collegiate communication/ marketing peers across a diverse and complex ecosystem
Clear written and verbal communication to express ideas and share marketing and communication strategies
Demonstrated ability of staying current on the latest marketing strategies and best practices
Effective goal-setting skills
10+ years experience in related role
Varied marketing and communication experience, working within an integrated organization, along with different types of marketing and communication campaigns
Past experience demonstrating analytical skills to interpret KPI and CTA effectiveness across various channels.
Experience in a collegiate/University position within a larger hierarchical structure and organization
