This position performs a vital role in the Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) by leading the Creative Services team in support of both Kelley campuses. The Director of Creative Services ensures that Marketing goals and various needs around Kelley become creative reality.
Spends time as needed on both campuses.
Collaborates closely with peer OMC leaders, Kelley deans, department heads and other leaders in Bloomington and Indianapolis, and reports directly to the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications.
Leads a variety of team members in Bloomington and Indianapolis, including graphic design, content writing, video, photography, and project management. At various times this work includes hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, assigning work, and setting goals and objectives.
Maintains and develops Kelley brand and editorial standards (consistent with Indiana University standards).
Serves as the subject matter expert on creative strategy and Kelley brand identity.
Refines and optimizes standards and processes to ensure productivity, quality, transparency, and stakeholder satisfaction across all aspects of creative execution.
Effectively manages the operation of the team and outside partners to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Develops a strong lineup of external talent (freelancers and agency partners) that can be leveraged when needed to augment internal capabilities.
Performs other related duties as needed.
Directs operations for the marketing and communications function by providing oversight and direction within a department, large multifaceted department, or multiple departments.
Hires, trains, evaluates, coaches, assigns work, sets goals and objectives, determines staffing needs, and directs the work of a team of Marketing Generalists and/or Marketing Assistants.
Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders; determines marketing needs, projects, and programs to align with objectives and goals and supervises processes such as the development of marketing timelines related to such initiatives.
Independently develops, evaluates, and executes basic and highly complex strategic marketing plans for a department, functional area within a department, or large, multifaceted department to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
Responds to escalated and complex inquiries and requests from direct reports and stakeholders; acts as a resource and explains policies, procedures, and programs.
Assists in budget planning and administration for marketing initiatives, including expenditures, revenue projections, and project and program costs.
Monitors industry trends and best practices, makes process and operational and strategic recommendations, and assists in implementing procedural changes.
May provide guidance to lower-level Marketing Leaders.
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations, or related field
4 years in relevant field
1 years of management experience in relevant field
8 years of progressive leadership experience in a creative field
Experience working in an agency or large creative team

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
