The Latin American Studies Association (LASA) is the largest professional Association in the world for individuals and institutions engaged in the study of Latin America. With over 12,000 members, nearly 60 percent of whom reside outside the United States, LASA is the one association that brings together experts in Latin America from all disciplines and diverse occupational endeavors across the globe.
LASA's mission is to foster intellectual discussion, research, and teaching on Latin America, the Caribbean, and its people throughout the Americas promote the interests of its diverse membership, and encourage civic engagement through network building and public debate.
Every year, specialists in Latin America gather at the LASA International Congress. Featuring over 900 sessions, including plenary sessions and informal meetings, the Congress is the world's premier forum for expert discussion on Latin America and the Caribbean.
Position Overview:
The Latin American Studies Association seeks a marketing and branding specialist to develop strategies, branding and marketing plans, and activities supporting the LASA membership and its programs. The position oversees the development and distribution of all print and electronic collateral and manages tracking systems to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts. It directs and implements the organization’s online community strategy in social channels, managing engagement and activity within its audience and fostering relationships.
Responsibilities:
Marketing and Branding
Development of marketing and branding strategic plan(s)
Analysis of online user behavior and user journeys with analytical software including but not limited to Google Adwords and Google Analytic
Implementation and tracking of various marketing initiatives using Google Tag Manager
Conducting page optimization for search engine marketing: Planning, implementing, and managing the overall SEO strategy to develop optimization strategies that increase the LASA website search engine results rankings.
Leading initiatives that drive brand awareness, including day-to-day execution of marketing campaigns and promotions including fundraising campaigns.
Measuring and reporting performance branding and marketing campaigns with KPIs
Monitoring and analyzing LASA’s brand reputation
Building relationships with journalists and media outlets to promote LASA and all its outreach initiatives.
Social Media
Managing all social media accounts of LASA (LARR, LARC, LACC, MM, Sections, etc.)
Analyzing engagement data, identifying trends in user interactions, and planning digital campaigns to build community online.
Generate, edit, publish, and share daily content that builds meaningful connections and encourages community members to act.
General Administration
Attend departmental and event-specific planning meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Work collaboratively with other LASA staff to coordinate efforts.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field. Bilingual: English and Spanish required. Understanding of the academic field desired.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in marketing, branding, and advertising in a non-profit setting
Experience in advertising, fundraising, and donation campaigns
Experience analyzing online user behavior and user journeys with analytical software including but not limited to Google Adwords and Google Analytic
Implement tracking into various marketing initiatives using Google Tag Manager

Experience with Create Cloud Suite to create social media content.
Experience with Meta Business (paid Facebook and Instagram ads) as well as Twitter (X), LinkedIn, and YouTube advertising platforms
Experience in social media crisis management and implementing de-escalation plan execution (identification of possible crises, monitoring brand mentions, monitoring RRSS reputation and acceptance)
Strong analytical skills to carry out market research to understand LASA members’trends.

Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, stretch, stand for extended periods, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and run.
