SUMMARY OF POSITION: The role of the Advancement Marketing Manager is to plan, manage and execute marketing projects and content development in support of Institutional Advancement needs, in the areas of alumni and philanthropic (fundraising and donor) communications, through a courteous, helpful, unbiased, and professional manner. The Advancement Marketing Manager will also support Advancement events and devise and implement multifaceted marketing support for Converse's upcoming capital campaign. This is both a strategic and hands-on role that requires project management experience along with writing and design skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Planning (20%)
Responsible for supporting and guiding development of the strategic vision of advancement marketing campaign(s) and mapping out the tasks required to implement that vision.
Conceptualizes advancement marketing creative and leads its development as a writer and/or graphic designer.
Displays creativity by knowing how to translate concepts into audience-facing campaigns that drive engagement and conversion, across various audiences and platforms.
Keeps up-to-date with the latest advancement marketing trends and strategies, researching relevant keywords and trending topics, specifically as they relate to higher education, and applies that knowledge to campaigns.
Advancement Project Management and Implementation (70%)
Creates and manages the advancement marketing and communications content calendar across digital, print, video, and social media.
Writes and edits advancement marketing publications as needed.
Produces catalogs, handbooks, programs, invitations, forms, mailers, newsletters, emails, digital ads, video content and other projects as assigned.
Oversees production of major University communications publications, both print and electronic (including Converse Magazine, Alumni Newsletter).
Develops and maintains relationships with freelance vendors (writers, designers, photographers, videographers) to produce and distribute marketing materials.
Distributes marketing materials through the appropriate channels, advising on the best platform for maximum exposure.
Acts as project and traffic manager for advancement marketing initiatives, organizing and prioritizing all of the tasks related to marketing campaigns in the most efficient manner.
Manages marketing budget, timeline, and people across advancement marketing projects. Ensures that projects stay within designated budget and timeline.
Reporting, Asset Management and Departmental Support (10%)
Tracks the performance of advancement marketing campaigns (including metricssuch as customer engagement and conversion rates) to identify ways to improve future marketing communications.
Reports on campaign performance, analyzing data and formatting it to deliver to upper management.
Organizes and archives advancement marketing materials.
Supports the Communications Team in planning and executing photo and video shoots to support both institutional marketing and advancement marketing needs.
Supports the team with branding initiatives across campus.
Exhibits teamwork and collaboration across internal and external communities.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related area and a minimum of 3 years marketing experience
Experience in advancement and/or philanthropic campaign marketing or related areas
Experience with project management and budgeting practices
Working knowledge of Constant Contact, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Google Drive
Excellent communication skills/ability to communicate clearly.
Proven writing and design skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience devising/implementing marketing for higher education or nonprofit capital campaign
Thorough knowledge of marketing campaigns and integrated marketing practices
Experience and passion for a non-profit and/or higher education setting
Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of teams and personalities to accomplish goals and motivate team members and/or internal clients to keep them on task and on deadline
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proven writing skills (copywriting, editing, storytelling) and excellent communication skills

GUIDELINES AND SUPERVISION: Minimal supervision required. Independence and discretion to do the job are expected for this position. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications. To accomplish stated duties and responsibilities, the individual in this role will primarily interact with Marketing and Communications team members, as well as the Institutional Advancement team, including but not limited to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement Services, Assistant Vice President of Philanthropy, Director of Advancement Services, Assistant Director of Annual Giving, Associate Director of Donor Relations, and Director of Alumni Relations. This role will also interact with various supporting service providers and agencies, plus stakeholders across campus from various departments.
Work Schedule: Weekday hours according to the University's posted office hours: M-Th 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; F 8:00 am - 1:00 pm. Flexible, hybrid, and/or remote schedule available. Occasional weeknights or weekends as applicable.
