The Digital Marketing and Communications Manager serves as the school’s primary digital strategist and website content manager and is responsible for managing GFS’ digital presence across platforms to support the mission, marketing communications strategy, campaign, and Admissions goals. This position is central to bringing GFS’ mission to life for a variety of key audiences and inspiring interest, engagement, and support.
Responsibilities
Serve as GFS’ web manager, ensuring alignment across the GFS digital experience in support of advancing institutional strategic priorities through strong creative and content strategy.
Produce planned and as-needed email communications and newsletters with an eye toward continuous optimization of content and schedule.
Manage digital advertising and marketing efforts across owned and paid media, including organic and paid strategies to increase search engine rankings.
Develop and manage integrated social media strategy/calendar to support school strategic messaging and priorities across channels. Manage social media playbook and policy with yearly updates, as needed.
Serve as the digital communications lead with Admissions, coordinating with the team to plan, produce, and optimize Admissions marketing with particular focus on the website and digital assets, including email and social media.
Maintain GFS listings on third-party websites (Niche, Private School Review, etc.).
Compile digital marketing data and analytics reports to aid the team in developing strategic insights and optimizing performance.
Create, scale, and repurpose digital content for use across channels and audiences, including the alumni magazine and the website.
Assist Communications & Marketing Director with project management and production; manage Communications email inbox.
Collaborate with the Communications Director to build and maintain a forward-looking editorial plan and communications calendar.
Cover and assist with important school events such as Alumni Weekend, Giving Day, MLK Day of Service, Breakthrough Soiree, Admissions Open Houses, Fun Day, Graduation, etc.
Assist the Communications and Marketing Director with managing weather-related communications, crisis communications, and other urgent school notifications.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, public relations, advertising, or related field required.
A minimum of 5 years previous professional experience in a communications role is required.
Exceptional writing, research, proofreading, and project management skills along with the ability to adapt style and voice for a variety of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to organize tasks and priorities, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
Fluency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Adobe Acrobat required.
Proficiency in social media management, CMS and analytics tools, Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as Google Docs preferred.
Availability to attend/staff some evening and weekend events, including Open House and Alumni Weekend, among others
