Department Purpose
The marketing and communications team is part of the Enrollment Management Vice Provost's Office and supports Undergraduate Education as well as Enrollment Management. Enrollment Management supports student success by providing student-focused services to prospective and current students, along with their families.
Job Summary
Under direction of the Marketing and Communications Director for Enrollment Management, develop and oversee implementation of the strategic marketing and communications program for current undergraduate students and their families. Based on market research, and in collaboration with Undergraduate Education and Enrollment Management, create strategic communications themes for students that enhance their student experiences, drive them to campus resources and foster awareness of topics such as academic success, co-curricular experiences and diversity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Bachelor's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive experience developing, implementing and measuring strategic marketing and communication plans, and incorporating market research and best practices; analytical skills to evaluate communication tools for their effectiveness in reaching a project's goals and experience in resource allocation, including budget management and goal setting.
Experience supervising, mentoring and developing professional staff; managerial skills to direct work of staff; and knowledge of human resource management practices and policies.
Experience in creating and managing diverse types of communications, including both print and digital media, and interactive content intended to reach and engage diverse audiences.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
Demonstrated organizational skills and experience managing multiple, large-scale projects with varying clients and competing deadlines; delivering customer service; and managing and collaborating with freelance professionals and vendors, including printers, photographers, designers, etc.
Skills to lead, make critical decisions, guide individuals and committees in collective planning, problem solve, resolve conflict and build consensus; experience collaborating with executive leadership.
Demonstrated use of writing and editing skills to apply language accurately and creatively, recognize and use correct English grammar, spell and punctuate correctly, and understand and translate complex concepts into lay terms, knowledge of AP style. Computer knowledge of PC and Macintosh computer systems as well as various programs and software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Knowledge of digital and emerging technologies applicable to higher education.
Knowledge of higher education marketing strategies, including best practices and techniques.

Skills to analyze and evaluate technical and non-technical program requirements, information, or problems.
Knowledge of project management, design and production software, including general familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver, etc.
Knowledge of UC Davis student-service units and activities.
