Organization's Summary Statement: The Director, Fan Development & Event Marketing will report to the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience. This position will oversee the development and implementation of marketing plans, sponsor activation, and game presentation for Men’s Basketball and Field Hockey.
Additional responsibilities include overseeing the Assistant Director of Marketing Strategy & Fan Experience, collaborating with the Broadcasting & Production unit to develop creative in-game video elements that maximize both student-athlete and fan experiences, planning, promoting, and executing Maryland Basketball preseason events, and directly involving myself in creative fan engagement and branding initiatives. This position will serve as the Athletic Department’s liaison to The Pride student group; serve as Maryland Athletics representative on the University’s Maryland Day planning committee, assisting campus constituents in the planning and execution of numerous student- and community-focused events; oversee student worker(s) responsible for Track & Field and Tennis marketing; and perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Four (4) years of experience in an athletics or higher education setting. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of digital marketing and social media advertising strategies.
Knowledge of marketing plan development and implementation for multiple sports programs.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
Physical Demands: The scope of the position frequently requires evening, weekend, and holiday work (Non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices, including telephones, copy machines, and fax machines; constantly moves around the facility and event site before, during, and after events to service clients; and consistently communicates via telephone, email, and in person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
