The OSUCCC James Communications and Marketing Department is responsible for the overall brand management and communications and marketing initiatives on behalf of Ohio States cancer program. This includes, but is not limited to, communication of vision, programs and services of the cancer program to faculty, staff, referring physicians, cancer researchers, donors and the public on a local, regional, national and international basis. The OSUCCC James Communications and Marketing Department works collaboratively with The Ohio State University Communications Department and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Strategic Marketing and Communications Department to assure alignment and coordination with key messages and program initiatives.
Position Summary
The marketing consultant position supports the goals of James Development through the successful creation and implementation of marketing and communications plans. This position also supports the cancer-related goals that are a part of the larger Wexner Medical Center marketing, communications and digital strategy plan.
In collaboration with the senior marketing consultant, the marketing consultant develops and manages strategic marketing plans that directly contribute to the successful achievement of James Developments goals. The marketing plan, strategies and tactics include concepts, design, production, content development and execution of all marketing and collateral materials. In addition to managing projects, this position manages vendors, freelancers and students necessary to complete the work. This position works closely with cancer program marketing and communications colleagues to identify opportunities and to integrate the donor audience into existing marketing and communications projects. This position collaborates closely with the James Development team to determine the marketing needs for a variety of initiatives, events and programs as well as collaborates with key areas of the Wexner Medical Center marketing, communications and digital team to ensure multichannel marketing tactics are successful. This person will need to develop a thorough understanding of the entire cancer program, its product lines, business plans and James Development plans as well as the overarching Wexner Medical Center strategic plan.
This position will assist in managing the communications and marketing of multiple high-profile events such as Pelotonia, Ohio States superpeloton Team Buckeye, Breath of Hope, Block Lectureship, Block Memorial Tournament, Buckeye Cruise for Cancer, Steps for Sarcoma, Mac and Cheese Festival, Harvest of Hope and the cancer community partner groups that generate millions of dollars for the cancer program and touch tens of thousands of people annually. In addition, this position must execute plans that show the impact of the funds raised through a variety of strategies and tactics. Success in this position is demonstrated through proficiency the implementation of marketing plans and tactics that meet client objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related area
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a communications, marketing or related role
Experience working with donor groups or audiences a plus
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
